DC UPSes are ideal to keep small DC devices online and typically have the following advantages over normal UPSes:
- You get longer backup time for less money. DC UPSes do not need to convert to 220V AC and is therefore more efficient.
- LiFePO4 batteries provide a quicker charge which is especially helpful in higher loadshedding stages.
- LiFePO4 batteries last longer and will not require replacement as soon as typical lead acid batteries would.
- Small and light weight compared to normal UPSes.
